Studio
A kiln is where glass is made. Ours runs at night.
NIGHTKILN is a small studio that makes images of objects. Not renderings of objects. Images: the kind a photographer would recognise, where the light does the describing and the object simply stands there and takes it.
We work almost entirely on the hard materials. Glass, metal, coated paper, brushed and polished surface. They are hard for the same reason: none of them has an appearance of its own. They only have what the room gives them, which means the work is lighting before it is modelling, and then looking very closely at what came back.
Every scene we build is generated from code rather than assembled by hand. That is not a philosophy, it is an economy: when a client asks for the same bottle in three colours, or the same set at a different angle, the answer is a line rather than another job. It also means nothing in a frame is there by accident. If it is in the picture, someone decided it.
Packshots, hero shots, macro detail, turntables and short loops, for any sector that has an object to show: cosmetics, food, watches, furniture, packaging, industry. Glass, ceramic and metal are the three we have taken furthest. We scale the format to the job rather than the other way round, and we are specific about what a given budget buys before anyone commits to it.
Based in Italy. Working in English and Italian.
